The Fae are one of my favourite class of supernaturals - complete misnomer as they are as natural as they come - because of their nature.
When I was a child Labyrinth was in firm rotation in our house, in fact it is probably still one of my favourite films (even though it gave me nightmares for two decades) so when a gnome showed up outside my apartment window it was relatively easy to accept.
Thus, the work began and I learnt incredibly quickly that faith and giving the ‘benefit of the doubt’ in this world made me a target.
They made me grow up.
Who are they?
Distinct from Nature Spirits, the Fae are Supes that live in another world that is incredibly close to ours and have their own territory’s, hierarchies and clans. They go to war with each other, marry and hope for a better life. They are not just found in nature but also our homes, specific roads and specific energy.
For example, Goblins always have a foot in the energy of chaos and they can live anywhere they choose to bring chaos with them. Chaos is in their make up.
Some of the Fae can transverse worlds, some can’t, and many of them despise our kind because of what we are doing to their home. Many wish an end to us and I cannot blame them.
No matter what you learn of the Fae the key thing to remember is none of them are to be trusted.
To you, this may sound like an insult but say this to the Fae and a broad smile will spread across their face and the words ‘of course’ will fall from their lips.
They will lie, trick, manipulate and charm you into doing their bidding, and if you fall for it it is wholly your fault. There is no grace and certainly no transparency - just always a motive.
This is what I mean when I say they made me grow up.
Coming from only two years mediumship training and working with the Gods I was incredibly naive and had been taught that spirits were there to ‘guide’ me, when the reality is, make no mistake, they have their own agenda.
The courses and workshops taught about working with the Fae are the only ones where there are a list of rules around your interactions.
They are a constant game of chess and will ensure your thinking becomes far more strategic and ruthless - perfect if you are about to work in corporate or even on Capitol Hill.
They are charm with teeth.
So Why Work With Them?
Because they are the most fun you will have throughout the worlds.
The Fae LOVE to gossip so once you have found you ‘sea legs’ word will spread that you aren’t an easy target any more, and you will find a fresh set of Fae step forward who will take you seriously and help you get to work.
Being around Supes’ who constantly live in the moment, are fully accountable for their own actions and emotions, and like to keep you on your toes is a dream. They aren’t going to come at you with a mystical message, they have no expectations of you because that would go against their nature and they are honestly, just plain fun.
Having the Fae tied to your lineage can be complicated depending upon which of the Clans is involved and how they are tied to you.
They could be chaotic, ethereal, sharp or incredibly wholesome. Once it has been established that their influence has been involved in your life so many things will begin to make sense to you. Their brand of energy will have flowed through your life events and/or your personality.
The Fae are incredibly important, especially now with the advent of Data Centres and the selling off of huge parcels of wilderness for construction and drilling. If you suspect they are close - working together could make all the difference to both of our survival.
